Notion has established itself as one of the go-to solutions for students seeking to improve their organization, productivity, and academic results. And it’s not hard to see why.
Notion can efficiently replace multiple apps at once, allowing students to have an all-in-one workspace from which to manage all their academic (and personal life)
Whether you are a high school student, a university, College, or grad student, if you are serious about your studying, you should try Notion.
While it is designed to be easy and intuitive to use, some users may find it a bit overwhelming at first, but don’t worry! First, the learning curve may seem steep at the beginning, but when you start using it,every day you will become an experienced user in no time; second, you can always start with a pre-made template. Pre-made template work like a full working app, allowing you to do plenty of things, from organize your course and class, have an overview of your timetable, take aesthetics and note, organize notebook, track your reading, and even build a flashcard, system without even leaving the app.
In this article, I’ve curated some of the best templates for students of all types; you will find them organized so you can easily find the one right for you; if you are interested in learning more about how you can use Notion to level up your student life, be sure to read until the end when I share some more practical advice.

What is Notion?
How to describe Notion to those who have never seen it in use? It's hard, but I will try my best. Notion is an all-in-one workspace web app. Think of it as a word processor, an Excel file, a project manager, and a calendar all combined. Basically, Notion is an app where you can build your own "app".
So it can basically replace a lot of apps in one and become your all-in-one workspace. Many people use Notion to organize their life, hobbies, work, business, and much more, just because it's so flexible. There are few things that Notion can't do. (Still can't make coffee, though)
For me at least, working with Notion feels like having a personal assistant, a project manager, and a note-taking app all rolled into one. Notion is free, and you can have as many pages, databases, and files as you want in it. It also has AI integration, but that requires you to pay a monthly fee. (I highly suggest giving it a try; you can save so much time…)
Here are just a few of the ways you can use Notion as a student:
- Take notes and organize your course materials. Notion's flexible note-taking features allow you to create notes in any format you want, from simple text to complex outlines. You can also embed images, videos, and other files in your notes, making them more engaging and informative. You can change the color, size, and font (but not the font style, except for 3 preset fonts).
- Manage your tasks and assignments. Within Notion, it's easy to create a to-do list or task tracker, making it super easy and perfect for assignments, deadlines, and progress. With the power of the database view, you can display and organize your tasks and assignments in different views, from kanban to calendar, list to gallery view.
- Collaborate with classmates. Another feature you don't want to discount is Notion's collaboration and sharing feature. Basically, any Notion page can easily be shared online or invite guests and collaborators. The ability to share online pages with just a click makes it virtually an alternative to having a blog or a personal website. Think about this: you can share your notes with all your student schoolmates. Anyone from your class can access them, duplicate them, or improve them. That is super useful for group projects as well.
Is Notion Good for Students?
I'm not a student anymore. But considering that I am a lifelong learner, and learning, taking notes, and such tasks are just a central part of my business, I can say that it's definitely a good workspace for students of all ages and fields.
Back in the day when I was a student, I would have loved to have a system like Notion. Considering how many students use Notion, I can't find a good reason why Notion would not be a good system for students.
Like any app, it may not be perfect, and considering that every person is different, someone may find it just not for them. Luckily, I've curated tons of templates here that are also free, so you can give Notion a try without building your student planner from scratch or spending any money.
